Missouri HB 2593 – SAVE GI BILL FOR SERVICE MEMBERS!

Currently, service members in Missouri must exhaust their GI Bill benefits before they qualify for a tuition and fee waiver at public universities. This mandate forces service members to use their GI Bill funds on tuition and fees, preventing them from using the accompanying stipend for essential expenses like food, lodging, or other educational costs, or from transferring the benefit to their dependents. Please note that only one Missouri university opposes this crucial effort.

House Bill 2593 is the solution.

This legislation would eliminate this requirement, giving service members control over how they utilize their GI Bill.
HB 2593 has successfully passed the Missouri House of Representatives and is now moving through the Senate.

We urge you to contact your state senator—by phone, email, or even an in-person visit—to advocate for this bill.
